Artist's Description
This is a portrait of my third great uncle, David Nation. He was a Captain in the Civil War, a lawyer and minister but his place in history is as the husband of the infamous, Carrie A. Nation. Carrie was instrumental in the American Temperance Movement of the early 1900's. If you didn't learn about her in school, google her, I trust you will find it interesting.
