In her day Carrie was quite notorious for her direct and sometimes violent anti-saloon crusades as a leader in the temperance movement. Today, few remember her although she was a prominent feature in National Public Television's recent Ken Burns documentary, Prohibition. I think she would have enjoyed the free publicity!
